Wide Awake at 3 a.m.

Mags and I just got back from our three-week vacation in Europe. We went to London, Paris, Berlin, Brussels, Amsterdam and Gda?sk. I posted over 150 pictures from our trip on Flickr — but the pictures aren’t public so e-mail me if you need access.

The London bombings were scary. We were in Paris when we found out that London won the bid to host the 2012 Olympics and we were still there the next day when we found out about the bombings. We were staying a few hundres meters away from the Shepard’s Bush station during the second (failed) bombings. There were a couple days where we watched a lot of CNN…

But I’ll always remember this vacation for Paris, where we got engaged, and Gda?sk, where I met Mags’ wonderful friends and family. It was a wonderful trip!

Magdalena and I are now engaged! I proposed to Mags today on a bench along the River Seine in Paris. It was a nice warm evening with a view of the Musée d’Orsay in front of us. We’ve been happily together since December 2001, so I figured it was about time [grin].

We don’t have a date set for the wedding but we would like to get married next year sometime.
